Andrew’s Journey: A Success Story with Goodwill’s E.D.G.E. Program
Andrew’s journey is a testament to the power of mentorship and hard work. He participated in the E.D.G.E. program, funded by Ohio Means Jobs – Morrow County, which pairs young individuals ages 14-24 with a Goodwill coach. The program provides a unique combination of academic and workplace development, offering participants opportunities for work experience, tutoring, training, and other supportive services.

When Andrew joined the program, he worked closely with his coach to set clear and achievable goals. These included securing a job, obtaining his driver’s license, and graduating from high school. With Goodwill’s guidance, Andrew tackled each of these challenges one by one.
Through the support of his coach, Andrew completed the necessary courses to obtain his driver’s license and successfully graduated from Tri-Rivers Career Center in the construction trade. Shortly after, he secured a position with Kokosing Construction, a milestone that marked his transition from student to professional.
However, Andrew’s goals didn’t stop there. He had always dreamed of serving his country, and with the determination he demonstrated throughout his journey, he enlisted in the military. He is currently finishing basic training and is preparing to pursue specialized education in heavy equipment operation within the Army. Despite this new chapter, Andrew hopes to one day return to his position at Kokosing Construction.
Reflecting on his journey, Andrew shares, “Goodwill helped me achieve my goals. They gave me many chances and never gave up on me. They have always supported me in all of my life goals.”
Andrew’s story is one of resilience, support, and success, and it serves as an inspiring example of what young people can achieve when they are given the tools and opportunities to succeed.
