When Bailey McClenathan first connected with Goodwill through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), she felt stuck. She was working in a position that no longer offered growth and lacked the confidence to pursue new opportunities. Although she was earning welding certifications through Tri-Rivers Adult Training Center, the thought of applying for jobs and attending interviews created significant anxiety.
Bailey learned about Goodwill through her mother, who received information about Goodwill services from a teacher at River Valley High School. Looking for support and guidance, Bailey enrolled in Goodwill’s Job Development program.
From the start, Bailey found a strong connection with her employment specialist.
“Amazing. My employment specialist matched my energy and helped me find employment. She also helped me gain more confidence in myself so that I could start a new job.”

Through personalized support, encouragement, and employment services, Bailey gained the confidence she needed to pursue a career she was passionate about. Today, she is thriving as the only female welder in her workplace – a role she takes great pride in. Rather than feeling trapped in a job she disliked, she is building a successful future in a field where women are often underrepresented.
Bailey credits Goodwill with helping her believe in herself and embracing new opportunities.
“Goodwill has given me the confidence to work in a male-dominated environment and feel empowered as a female doing what I love.”
Looking ahead, Bailey has ambitious goals. She hopes to give back to her parents for all they have done for her, own property, and one day build her own home on her own land.
For others considering Goodwill’s services, Bailey offers a simple message:
“They are friendly. They will get you a job if you put in effort and put your mind to it.”
Bailey’s journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support, confidence can grow, barriers can be overcome, and new opportunities can lead to a brighter future. That’s how Good Happens Here.
