Marion CCMEP Youth Program
When Rayna Heacock moved to Marion, she was starting over in many ways. She had recently enrolled in the Exercise Science and Sports Medicine program at Tri-Rivers Career Center while also beginning her first job at Dairy Queen. As she adjusted to a new community, she was looking for opportunities to gain experience and prepare for her future.
Rayna learned about the Marion Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP), funded by OhioMeansJobs Marion County and facilitated by Marion Goodwill Industries, through her mom, a Goodwill team member who encouraged her to take advantage of the program’s resources.
From the beginning, Rayna found more than just employment support. She found a network of people invested in her success.
“My experience with the Goodwill program has been good! I have met lots of nice people, helped in the community with other participants, and received help whenever I needed it. All of the job coaches have been helpful and welcoming, and the monthly meetings and weekly check-ins have been very helpful and simple.”
Through the program, Rayna has gained valuable workplace skills, increased her confidence, and developed real-world job experience with the guidance of her job coach.
Looking ahead, Rayna has big goals. She plans to attend Marion Technical College and pursue a career as a physical therapist, allowing her to stay close to home while making a difference in the lives of others.
She encourages other young people to take advantage of the opportunities the program provides.
“The Goodwill program is very helpful with resources and support. You’ll meet great people, and if you ask for help, you’ll receive it.”
Rayna’s journey is a great example of how the Marion CCMEP Youth Program helps young adults build confidence, develop career skills, and create a strong foundation for future success.
