Chelsea: Shop, Donate, Change a Life

Chelsea was 15 and pregnant when she was referred to our program by the Salvation Army. The pastor informed her about a youth program funded by Ohio Means Jobs – Crawford County and managed by Goodwill.

The program is designed to help young people develop academic and workplace skills, offering opportunities for work experience, training, supportive services, counseling, and leadership activities. Chelsea had the chance to explore various work environments, from assisting at a local food pantry to managing a trophy business. Throughout the program, Chelsea showed remarkable determination and maturity, particularly as a young mother, striving to improve her future.

After completing the program, Chelsea graduated from Pioneer, a local career center, and was accepted to Marion Tech with full FAFSA funding. She successfully purchased and maintained payments on her own car. Chelsea now works at Avita while pursuing her radiology degree.

Chelsea and family

Chelsea’s goal is to earn her degree and work as an echocardiogram technician at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is also working towards other personal milestones, such as independent living.

Chelsea encourages others to take advantage of this program, believing it offers a valuable pathway to achieving future goals.
