When Alina came to Goodwill for job search assistance through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), she was struggling to find employment and found interviews especially challenging. She wanted to become more independent and build a future for herself.
With support from Goodwill and her job coach, Josalyn, Alina worked through the employment process step by step. She practiced interviewing, learned how to complete employment paperwork and orientation tasks, and gained confidence in her ability to navigate the workplace on her own.

Today, Alina is employed at the Marion YMCA as a childcare worker in the Child Watch room and she has found work she truly enjoys. The children are excited to see her when she arrives, and Alina has already successfully attended her first work meeting.
And employment is just one part of her story.
Alina has moved into her own home in a new city without financial assistance, is engaged to be married, recently earned her temporary driver’s license and is working toward getting her license. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue growing in the childcare field and one day become a Child Care Director.
Alina wants others to know that Goodwill can help with more than finding a job. The support she received helped her become more comfortable with interviews, getting hired and transitioning into a new workplace.
In Alina’s own words:
“I was able to find a job that I like and was able to get through interviews with the help of Goodwill.”
Congratulations, Alina! We can’t wait to see where your career in childcare takes you next.
Good Happens Here!
