Goodwill Staff Participate in Coldest Night of the Year Walk to Support Local Homeless Shelter

Members of Goodwill’s Mission Services team, along with Myla Jackson from the Marysville Bookstore, recently participated in the Coldest Night of the Year Walk, hosted by Marion’s Heart of Ohio Homeless Shelter.

The annual event is intentionally held on one of the coldest nights of the year to raise awareness about the realities of homelessness during winter months. By walking in the frigid temperatures, community members gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness.

Coldest Night of the Year Walk

Walkers traveled a designated route through Marion, with stops along the way at Jerzee and Hessler’s, before returning to the shelter site.

At the conclusion of the walk, participants were greeted with warm refreshments provided by Goodwill’s Marion Youth Program worksite, Pop’N & Roll’N, alongside program participant Jakevia Scott. The team helped serve hot paninis and potato soup to walkers — offering warmth and comfort after their time outdoors.

Goodwill is proud to partner with organizations like Heart of Ohio Homeless Shelter to support awareness initiatives and community engagement efforts. Events like the Coldest Night of the Year Walk reflect the power of collaboration and shared commitment to serving individuals in need.

Together, we continue working to strengthen our communities and create opportunities for those facing barriers. Good Happens Here.
