Shane’s Story of Growth & Success
Shane was referred to Goodwill through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD). Before coming to Goodwill, he faced many challenges and often felt overwhelmed, unsure of where to find the support he needed to move forward.
Shane had known about Goodwill since childhood—his family often shopped at their local store—so when the opportunity came to work with Goodwill, it felt familiar and welcoming.
Through the guidance of his job coach, Shane worked hard to develop the skills he needed to enter the workforce. His dedication paid off when he was hired at the Goodwill Outlet Store. Recently, Shane celebrated three years of employment—a milestone that marks how far he’s come.
Today, Shane continues to learn and grow every day. He enjoys gaining experience in different roles and applying the skills he’s developed on the job. Looking ahead, Shane’s goals are heartfelt and meaningful: he wants to live a normal, independent life, own a home, get married, and build a family he can support.
