Marrah: Shop, Donate, Change a Life

Marrah’s Journey of Growth and Success with the E.D.G.E. Program

At 14, Marrah was a shy young girl, uncertain of what the future held. However, her journey would soon take a turn with the E.D.G.E. program, funded by Ohio Means Jobs – Morrow County. This program, designed for youth ages 14-24, connects participants with a Goodwill coach who provides mentorship, helping them develop essential academic and workplace skills. Through the E.D.G.E. program, Marrah would find the guidance, support, and opportunities she needed to grow and thrive.

Over the past five years, Marrah has blossomed into a confident, capable young adult, thanks to the skills and experiences she gained through the program. From her early days as a shy teenager, she has had the chance to explore various job roles—starting as a dishwasher and eventually moving into an office setting as a receptionist. Along the way, she learned how to navigate the workplace, interact with coworkers, and take on responsibilities that prepared her for the future. Marrah is currently working in the office at Job & Family Services – Morrow County, where she continues to apply the skills she developed through the E.D.G.E. program.

One of the things Marrah values most about the E.D.G.E. program is the unwavering support from the dedicated team at Goodwill. “Goodwill does so much more than sell clothes. They offer so many different services to help expand and inspire young and motivated minds,” she says. This support has been instrumental in her personal and professional development, providing her not only with work experience but also with the confidence to pursue her dreams.

Now, as a 19-year-old, Marrah looks ahead to the future with a sense of possibility. She knows the road ahead may have challenges, but thanks to her time with the E.D.G.E. program, she feels ready to take them on.
