Sierra’s journey with Goodwill is a powerful example of how early career exploration and continued support can lead to long-term success.
She began through the Summer Youth Work Experience Program with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) in 2022 and 2023—gaining paid, hands-on training at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium. These experiences helped her build confidence, learn essential workplace skills, and discover her strengths.
In 2024, Sierra continued building her resume through a school-based program at the Goodwill store in Delaware, where she found joy in organizing and sorting donations—applying her eye for detail and love of structure.
Today, Sierra is working one-on-one with a Goodwill Employment Specialist for job search support, interview prep, and job coaching once she’s placed in a role.
Her journey reflects the true impact of workforce development programs that empower individuals to grow, thrive, and achieve their goals.
